Upscale Rentals to Pay Homage to Former Wible Language Institute

ALLENTOWN, PA (November 19, 2015) – Cityline Construction of Allentown has begun its transformation of the 8,000-square-foot structure at 24 South Eighth Street, Center City Allentown. The building formerly served as home to the Wible Language Institute. Cityline plans to pay homage to the former occupant using graphics and collectibles from the onetime publisher as design inspiration in the space.

The project will feature six apartments with 12-foot ceilings, lofty windows, a modern industrial theme with exposed bricks and upscale stainless steel kitchens. One- and two-bedroom apartments will be offered on the second and third floors; 2,500 square feet of retail space will occupy the first floor.

“The building will be named “Wible 24” in honor of the Wible Language Institute, a prolific publisher of French, German and Spanish language aids that once occupied the building,” says Thomas Williams Jr., Real Estate Director at Cityline.

“We thought it necessary to show the public the history of this structure, and that Allentown was once home to an important business that produced language tools, books and audios from the 1950s through what we believe was the 1990s,” adds Williams.

“The new apartment and retail constructions in Allentown are highly viable, however, we want to highlight a different Allentown—an Allentown of industry that was born of our greatest generation. We have already purchased some of the old books that were published by Wible. We are going to try to incorporate them into the design,” adds Williams.

Location of Wible 24 is directly across the street from the newly approved Five City Center.
