The Leap Year Performance Features Selections from Company’s Most Popular Works

(February 12) – Carolyn Dorfman Dance returns to SteelStacks on Saturday, February 29 with a program appropriately entitled “Leap Love Dance.” Called “ingenious” by The Star-Ledger and “emotionally resonant” by The New York Times, the bold, high-energy company is a favorite wherever they perform. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. performance are only $20 general admission and $15 for students and seniors.

Comprised of 10 multi-ethnic, stunning dancers, Carolyn Dorfman Dance is known nationally and internationally for presenting a range of works that are both technically demanding and highly entertaining. “Leap Love Dance” combines excerpts from several of the company’s most popular works in a way that highlights the many sides of love and relationships.

In this multi-faceted program, Dorfman will perform selections of popular works such as “Narcoleptic Lovers,” created by award-winning guest choreographer Doug Elkins, who draws on modern, hip-hop, ballet, and martial arts for an electrifying, humorous, and engaging work.

Other love-themed works choreographed by Carolyn Dorfman could include “Love Suite Love,” based on the bittersweet love songs of the legendary singer Patsy Cline, using pillows and chairs as props; “Keystone,” a work set to the classic songs of Rufus Wainwright, Louis Armstrong, and Jamie Randolph, which explores the endurance of relationships; and “Pastorale Pause,” creating a journey for the audience which has been called “lyrical, youthful and effervescent.”

This return performance by the popular dance company is supported by ArtsQuest, a nonprofit dedicated to presenting art and cultural programs to the diverse residents of the Lehigh Valley.

Carolyn Dorfman Dance will appear in the Fowler Blast Furnace Room at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, on Saturday, February 29, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for students and seniors, and $14 for ArtsQuest Members.
