Thursday night the PPL Center welcomed the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters and their “Pushing The Limits” tour.  Many families took the opportunity to treat their children to a one of a kind basketball game.

With a little whistling of “Sweet Georgia Brown”, The Harlem Globetrotters took half court and performed their famous circle warm up routine.  As the ball passed, each player highlighted their talents which captivated the crowd.  The lights went down, and glow in the dark basketballs added to the excitement.

The Washington Generals were the opposing team, confident that they would win.  In jest, the Globetrotters reached out to a cloud-based answering service to predict the probability of the winning team, and this Alexa type authority chose the Globetrotters as the best team ever.  With that mindset, The Globetrotters were destined for victory.  But that didn’t stop the determination and efforts of the Generals, who ran neck and neck to the end.    Down to the last seconds of the game, fans were on the edge of their seats as The Globetrotters scored the last points in the final seconds of the game.  The final score was 94 to 90, and as predicted, a Globetrotter victory.

The Harlem Globetrotters are known worldwide as a one of a kind family entertainment that combines over the top basketball skills and theatrics that keeps everyone engaged in the action.  Plenty of acrobatics as the scoring players not only latched on to the rim of the net, but at times also climbed and inverted themselves onto the rim.   There is no sitting on the sidelines here, dance breaks to big beats, and kids are encouraged to join the players on the court, at certain moments.  As an added bonus, a fifth quarter was added, a free interactive post game autograph session, and the opportunity to meet a favorite player.
