Queer Art Around the World in the 1600s

May 6 @ 6:00 am - 8:00 pm

Monday May 6th, 2019 – Queer Art Around the World in the 1600s

What’s Queer about the 1600s? Was it the dawn of the Age of Enlightenment, or the Age of Puritanical Oppression, or both? Don’t miss this class to learn about the LGBTQ population and the art they made when the Mayflower was on its way to the new world! We’ll be talking about the support of LGBTQ people in ancient Asian cultures, the Queer images that were prevalent during Rembrandt’s period of the Northern Renaissance, the anonymous painters in the American colonies, and Queer artists and imagery in indigenous cultures. And witches!
And there will be great themed snacks!

Call class Instructor Liz Bradbury for more information at 610-432-5449 or email liz@bradburysullivancenter.org.
