Yin yoga is an all levels body-mind balancing practice that is an amazing complement to any wellness and fitness routine. In this style of yoga, most of the physical postures are done seated, the stretches are held at a comfortable “edge” zone for a minute or more. This allows the body time to work with the natural downward force of gravity and the mind time to connect and expand with the simple deep natural breathing. This mindful approach results in helping the body find new stretch and space at the level of the connective tissues, ends of muscles, the joints (vs belly of the muscles) leaving one more physically and mentally centered and balanced. Please note that this is a relaxing practice, but it is not the same as a restorative practice.
It is great for beginner and veteran yogis, all athletes and non-athletes. There is goodness in this style of stretching to be found by just about everyone!
This class is followed by a meditation class. The meditation class is 1/2 price ($8) for those yinners that choose to stay! Purchase at the Center when you come to class.
First yoga or meditation class is $5.
