BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS LEHIGH VALLEY is looking for compassionate and energetic volunteers to become ‘Bigs’ for youth ages seven (7) to sixteen (16) in Lehigh and Northampton County. We have approximately 270 Little’s waiting to be matched with a Big. Our matches typically meet twice a month and can participate in activities that they are most interested in. DELAWARE & LEHIGH NATIONAL HERITAGE CORRIDOR, Bethlehem seeks volunteers for Museum Docent who will be responsible for interaction with visitors to ensure they have a safe, enjoyable and enriching experience in our museum. Abilities required include friendly and welcoming demeanor, attention to detail and communication skills. Hours based on availability and desired commitment but prefer minimum of 6-hour shift on a weekly or biweekly basis. Minimum age 16. FEED THE CHILDREN, Bethlehem needs volunteers to pack boxes of food and personal care items 9AM-noon every Tuesday morning and 9AM-noon or 5-8PM every Thursday. HOLIDAY HOPE CHESTS need volunteers to donate wrapped shoeboxes filled with age appropriate items for Lehigh Valley’s children in need. Suggested gift lists are provided on our website. This program, coordinated by the Volunteer Center, is a great project for large/small groups, clubs, classes, families, and individuals. To participate, go to www.volunteerlv.org/holiday-hope-chests and fill out a 2020 Donor Pledge Form. Opportunity to collect and wrap empty shoeboxes, too!

 

INDEPENDENT TRANSPORTATION NETWORK LEHIGH VALLEY provides 24/7 door through door ride service for seniors age 60 and over and visually impaired adults to any destination in the Lehigh Valley. In order to provide this service, we need volunteer drivers to help us with the increasing demand for rides. All rides in Lehigh Valley only. Drive when and where you want. No minimum hours required. MEALS ON WHEELS OF THE GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY, Northampton County needs drivers to deliver meals to homebound seniors and adults with disabilities. Volunteer once a week, once a month, or whenever your schedule permits; we provide step-by-step directions and delivery instructions. Current need greatest for our Bethlehem, Slate Belt and Easton sites. SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK, Nazareth needs volunteers to pack Sunshine Boxes 8:30-11:30AM or 12:30-3:30PM on the Third Tuesday & Wednesday of the month. Tasks include assembling cardboard boxes, packing boxes of food, organizing and loading packages. Minimum age 16 with parental supervision. Water & snacks will be provided. SIXTH STREET SHELTER, Allentown is looking for someone to help with Administrative tasks at the shelter Mondays & Fridays from 9AM – 3PM.
