Easton, PA – In partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Latino Connection, Capital BlueCross, GIANT, Lancaster Health Center, Neighborhood Health Centers of the Lehigh Valley, St. Luke’s University Health Network, and Greater Easton Development Partnership, Pennsylvania’s COVID-19 Mobile Response Unit visited Easton today.

CATE is offering free COVID-19 testing, health education, and resources today, November 6, and tomorrow, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside Paxinosa Elementary School at 12th & Northampton Streets. Neighborhood Health Centers of the Lehigh Valley is providing the virus test and is also providing free flu shots for community members who are not being tested for COVID-19.

CATE will return to Easton on November 9 and 10 for stops at the Easton Neighborhood Center located at 902 Philadelphia Road in Easton from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days. The tests for these locations are provided by St. Luke’s University Health Network. (Note: flu shots will not be available on these days.)

“Having the CATE mobile COVID-19 testing unit in Easton is a great resource for our residents, and providing much-needed flu shots is a plus. I am grateful to all of the participating sponsors,” said City of Easton Mayor Sal Panto, Jr.

“The CATE mobile response initiative has had an incredible impact in our communities since it began making tour stops in August,” said George Fernandez, Founder and CEO of Latino Connection. “We’ve administered more than 1,000 COVID-19 tests, handed out 5,000 bags with facemasks and PPE items, and welcomed more than 4,000 visitors so far – and we have many more stops on the calendar.”

CATE’s tour has been extended through mid-December. Those interested in visiting CATE can learn more at www.CATEmobileunit.com or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/CATEmobileunit. Services are available on a first-come, first-serves basis. Social distancing and masking guidelines will be followed at all times.

“My years of experience with community-based partnerships and the overall positive impact they have makes partnering on such a vital public health service a wonderful moment for NHCLV. CATE COVID-19 testing and flu shots are here, they’re accessible, and they’re free. All of this supports the work that needs to be done to not only raise awareness, but also to increase access to much-needed services that will support our overall community’s health. I am proud NHCLV is here to represent and serve in this critically important public health service initiative,” said Melissa Miranda, RN, CEO, of NHCLV.

“West Ward Community Initiative is thankful to partner with great community health organizations, NHCLV, and St. Luke’s University Health Network to bring easily assessable COVID-19 testing to our Easton neighborhoods. As we head into the winter months with a new uptick in COVID cases, we want to make sure our neighbors are staying healthy and being cared for if they are sick. We encourage those not getting tested for COVID-19 to get a flu shot and become informed on the necessary steps to stay safe and lessen the risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19,” said Amy Boccadoro, Manager, West Ward Community Initiative, a program of GEDP
