EASTON, PA – December 11, 2020 – Easton Mayor Sal Panto and his city administration have announced that the Winter Village in Historic Easton will continue as planned for the duration of the holiday season. Existing safety protocols, including the mask requirement for all attendees and practicing social distancing, will continue to be enforced. Attendees not wearing a mask will not be waited on by hut vendors or allowed to skate.

Remaining dates and times include:

  • December 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 & 20 – Fridays & Saturdays: noon – 8 pm, and Sundays: noon – 6 pm
  • December 21, 22 & 23 – noon – 6 pm for the vendor huts, and noon – 4:30 pm for skating.
  • Christmas Eve 12/24 – the vendor huts only will be open from 10 am – 2 pm (no skating)
  • 12/26 – noon – 8 pm
  • 12/27 – noon – 6 pm – final day

On Saturday 12/12 at 2 pm, area resident Ja’Siah Young, the star of the Netflix series “Raising Dion,” will host a Toys for Tots collection at the skating rink. Anyone who donates a new, unwrapped toy can skate with the actor for free. (Skating rink capacity limits of 30 people at a time will be in place.)

The Winter Village features 17 huts occupied by city retailers and restaurants, plus a synthetic ice-skating rink. It takes place in and around Centre Square beneath the Peace Candle. Created as the second phase of the city’s Business Recovery Program, The Winter Village in Historic Easton supports Easton’s small business retailers, which have been struggling during the pandemic. The Winter Village supports holiday shopping at the city’s more than 30 downtown retailers while observing social distancing and mask-wearing protocols.

Skating time slots are Fridays and Saturday at noon, 1:30 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm, and 6:30 pm, and Sundays at noon, 1:30 pm, 3:30 pm, and 5 pm. These intervals allow for time in between each skating session for sanitization of rented ice skates, the benches in the skating area, and the railing surrounding the rink. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 30 people will be allowed to skate during each time slot. Masks must be worn at all times, including while ice skating. Social distancing must also be observed. All skaters must sign a waiver. Skaters under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who can sign the waiver for them.
