Grants Available to Nonprofit Organizations Serving Carbon County

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley invites nonprofit organizations to apply for funding to serve Carbon County residents. 

Allentown, PA, January 14, 2021 – To support the community and continue to respond to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV) will provide funding to nonprofit organizations providing health and human services to the residents of Carbon County.

“We are so grateful to the nonprofits serving Carbon County for their dedicated and tireless efforts to support critical needs of our neighbors during an exceptionally trying time. At United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, we’re proud to be part of this community, to invest in its residents and to know that Carbon County agencies will continue to rise to meet the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Jill Pereira, Palmerton resident and Vice President, Education and Impact, UWGLV.

Organizations can apply for amounts between $1,000 and $10,000, with the average grant award estimated at $3,000. Funding is available for two years beginning July 1, 2021 to support high-quality, health and education programs and services focused on increasing:

  • Kindergarten readiness and access to high-quality early childhood education, including childcare.
  • Access to school-age programming and
  • Access to healthy food, essential items and housing for persons in Carbon County.
  • Supports and access for persons with disabilities in Carbon
  • Support for healthy aging and an age-friendly community in Carbon
  • Access to mental health services and substance abuse supports, including trauma-informed approaches for children and

The Invitation for Applications is available at www.unitedwayglv.org/carbon, and the deadline to apply using United Way’s online portal is Thursday, February 18, 2021. Applicants will be notified of final funding decisions in June 2021.

United Way staff will host two online sessions to help applicants with questions:

  • Monday, January 25, 2021 from 10-11 m.
  • Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 3-4 m.
