SCHNECKSVILLE, PA (November 29, 2022) – “Who cares for the caregivers?”

That’s an important question for providers of mental and behavioral healthcare services to ponder. And, as the latest issue of KidsPeace’s award-winning Healing Magazine notes, the answer may lie in the concept of “self-care.”

The Fall/Winter 2022 edition’s “Spotlight” section features articles on the need among caring professionals to recognize the value of ensuring their own well-being amid the pressures of their work and personal lives – to avoid burnout and serve the people who rely on them. It also extends the concept to foster children who are entering adulthood – with a first-person account of the benefits of deciding to “own” one’s life and struggles, and an article about a program for older foster kids to equip them with needed skills when they “age out.”

The latest issue also features:

  • An interview with historian and author Phyllis Vine about the possibility of meaningful reform of America’s mental healthcare system after decades of failure.
  • A profile of a new web-based resource by and for parents of transgender children.
  • An examination of an often-overlooked aspect of healthy living, especially for therapists: getting enough sleep.
  • And details on the annual awards from the KidsPeace Foundation.

Published twice a year, Healing Magazine is KidsPeace’s flagship publication, and provides information and inspiration to caring professionals, educators, parents – anyone with an interest in helping children grow, thrive and succeed.
