ALLENTOWN, PA – Today, Congresswoman Susan Wild announced and applauded $1,161,778,272.41 in federal funding for Pennsylvania broadband internet projects, made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Broadband Equality, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program.

“An estimated 15 percent of Pennsylvania lacks high-speed internet, including communities in PA-07 – so I’m thrilled that our Commonwealth is receiving over a billion dollars in investments in broadband internet projects,” said Congresswoman Susan Wild. “I’ve heard from rural communities in my district about the detrimental impact that slow, spotty, or non-existent internet connection has on them. In a time when we use internet for everything from school to telemedicine to government services, everyone needs access to reliable, high-speed broadband to reach their full economic potential. I’m proud to have helped pass into law the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that is making this program happen, and I look forward to watching these projects get off the ground and get to work for PA-07 and the entire Commonwealth.”

The BEAD program, within the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), was established by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act: landmark bipartisan infrastructure legislation that Rep. Wild worked to pass into law. This $1.1+ billion investment Pennsylvania is receiving thanks to this legislation will work to expand high-speed internet to every corner of PA-07 and every corner of the Commonwealth by supporting planning, deployment, and adoption of digital infrastructure.

Rep. Wild has been working to bring high-speed internet to every corner of PA-07 – in April, she convened a roundtable with White House and Treasury officials and local leaders from Weatherly, Pennsylvania to highlight the need for reliable, affordable, high-speed broadband investments in places like Weatherly.
