New facility will be followed by Lehigh Valley Hospital–Macungie this spring

Lehigh Valley, Pa. (Dec. 12, 2023) – The first part of Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN)’s newest medical campus – the Health Center at Macungie – opened for business Tuesday (Dec. 12).

The three-story medical office building features HNL Lab Medicine, Children’s ExpressCARE, Lehigh Valley Physician Group (LVPG) practices in family medicine, orthopedics and cardiology, as well as outpatient adult rehabilitation and cardiac and vascular diagnostic testing. The HNL site will feature a pediatric-certified phlebotomist and kid-friendly draw rooms.

The Macungie campus is located at the former Weis Market site at 3369 Route 100.

Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Macungie, under construction on the same campus, is slated to open in 2024.

It is the first of several neighborhood hospitals LVHN is seeking to build in the region. LVH–Macungie will feature a full-service ER, an inpatient medical unit and ambulatory diagnostic services.

LVH–Macungie fills a need by creating a medical campus and health care services not currently available in the region.

LVH–Macungie will be a licensed and accredited acute care hospital, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Other in-house hospital services will include lab, imaging and pharmacy. Imaging services, including X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan and MRI, also will be offered on an outpatient basis.

“The new LVH–Macungie neighborhood hospital campus, including the health center and neighborhood hospital, will give those living and working in the Macungie area more convenient, accessible, leading-edge health care,” said John Pierro, executive vice president and chief operating officer, LVHN. “We’re proud to be able to deliver more to the communities we serve.”

A second LVHN neighborhood hospital and health center are under construction in Gilbertsville, Montgomery County. LVH–Gilbertsville and the Health Center at Gilbertsville are projected to open later in 2024.
