EASTON, PA, June 20, 2024 –The Gray Strong Foundation is proud to announce that the nonprofit’s founder and local Lehigh Valley EMT, Eric Aquino, will be honored at this year’s Design Care 2024 fundraising event. The event, hosted by Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete, will take place on September 28th in Los Angeles, California.

Eric Aquino has dedicated his life to serving the Lehigh Valley community as an EMT and through the establishment of the Gray Strong Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to provide medical resources, support, and hope to individuals and families affected by Parkinson’s disease.

The HollyRod Foundation Design Care 2024 event, themed “Cheers to the Future,” celebrates the intersection of fashion, music, and philanthropy, and recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities. This year’s event will honor notable figures, including Academy Award-winning actress Viola Davis, Michelle Kwong, Julian Maha, Morgan Harper Nichols, Suzanne Camille Proctor, Dr. Chantale Branson, Eric Aquino, Jason McElwain, and Nadine Wright-Arbubakrr.

Aquino, who is also an ambassador for the Michael J. Fox Foundation shared joy over the award announcement, “I am deeply honored to be recognized by the HollyRod Foundation. I was diagnosed with early on-set Parkinson’s at 40 and my grandmother also suffered from Parkinson’s, so I am grateful for the opportunity to continue raising awareness and making a positive impact with Holly and Rodney Robinson Peete.”

The Design Care event is known for its glamorous setting, high-profile attendees, and commitment to raising funds for autism and Parkinson’s disease. This year’s event will be held at a private residence featuring fashion shows, musical performances, and heartfelt tributes to the honorees.

About Parkinson’s Disease

Affecting an estimated one million Americans and 10 million worldwide, Parkinson’s disease is the second-most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer’s and is the 14th-leading cause of death in the United States. It is associated with a progressive loss of motor control (e.g., shaking or tremor at rest and lack of facial expression), as well as non-motor symptoms (e.g., depression and anxiety). There is no cure for Parkinson’s and 60,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the United States alone. Visit parkinson.org for more info.
