Friends of the Allentown Parks partnering with West Park Wellness Association Announces Free 5-Week Yoga Series and Community Wellness Festival

All-level outdoor yoga sessions to feature meditation, sound healing, and refreshments at Allentown’s West Park

ALLENTOWN, PA – June 5, 2025 – friends of the Allentown Parks and West Park Wellness Association is excited to announce “Yoga in the Park,” a free five-week outdoor wellness series beginning Saturday, June 14, 2025, at West Park in Allentown. The transformative program will combine all-level yoga instruction, guided meditation, healing sound baths, and refreshments in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Led by certified instructor Alyscia Rivera, the series is designed to welcome participants of all experience levels, from complete beginners to seasoned yoga practitioners. Each two-hour session will take place at West Park, located at 1524 W. Linden Street, Allentown, PA 18102.

“We’re thrilled to bring this wellness opportunity directly to our community,” said Rivera. “There’s something magical about practicing yoga outdoors, surrounded by nature. Our goal is to create an accessible space where everyone can experience the benefits of mindfulness, movement, and community connection.”

Program Schedule:

• Saturday, June 14: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

• Sunday, June 29: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

• Saturday, July 12: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

• Sunday, July 27: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

• Saturday, August 9: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Each session will include:

• All-level yoga instruction suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners

• Guided meditation to promote mindfulness and stress relief

• Healing sound bath experiences

• Light refreshments for participants

The series will culminate with the West Park Wellness Festival on Sunday, August 17, featuring additional wellness activities and community vendors.

“This program represents our commitment to making wellness accessible to everyone in our community,” organizers noted. “By offering these sessions at no cost in a public park setting, we’re removing barriers that might prevent people from experiencing the benefits of yoga and meditation.”

Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mats and dress comfortably for outdoor activity. The program will proceed rain or shine, with indoor alternatives available if necessary.

The initiative is part of West Park Wellness’s broader mission to promote community health and well-being through accessible programming. The organization focuses on creating inclusive spaces where individuals can explore various wellness practices regardless of their economic circumstances or previous experience.
