New Exhibition at Sigal Museum: Read This! The History of Media in Northampton County
September 25, 2025 – July 11, 2026
Northampton County Historical & Genealogical Society is proud to announce the opening of its newest exhibition at Sigal Museum,
Read This! The History of Media in Northampton County, opening Thursday, September 25.
Timed with the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, this groundbreaking exhibition explores the power of media across centuries. From colonial-era newspapers and pamphlets that fueled revolution, to broadsides, letters, and the rise of modern journalism, Read This! traces how information has shaped public opinion, sparked change, and connected communities throughout Northampton County.
Highlights include:
- A replica 18th-century printing press installed in the gallery
- Rare, original newspapers and publications
- An examination of the reading of the Declaration of Independence in Easton on July 8, 1776
- An original copy of Nurmeburg Trial broadcasts
- A deepfake of President Nixon regarding the moon landing
Read This! invites visitors of all ages to consider how the ways we share news and ideas—whether in ink, over airwaves, or online—continue to transform the world.
