Given the lingering impacts of the federal government shutdown on federal workers and SNAP recipients, Capital Blue Cross is donating $60,000 to several community-focused entities across our service region that are working to address food insecurity. They include:
- The Lehigh Valley-based Critical Support Fund – a joint effort by the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley and the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation.
- The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.
- Helping Harvest Food Bank in Reading.
These entities have mobilized to help distribute food to families in need during this unprecedented time.
The Critical Support Fund will use Capital’s donation to make bulk food purchases to help fill dozens of local food pantries. The fund helps nonprofit food providers keep shelves stocked and ensure food reaches the neighbors who need it most.
