Wildlands Conservancy Community & Educational Calendar of Events for November 2025
In December, Wildlands Conservancy is offering 6 exciting Community & Education Events, five of which are at our Black River Sanctuary and all of which are free to the public (online registration requested):
- Our Get Out! For Wellness Hike @ Black River Sanctuary;
- Two of our series “Campfire Conversations”: on Environmental Stewardship and Trail Tails, at Black River Sanctuary;
- A Winter Solstice Forest Bathing for Wellness and Recovery offering at Black River Sanctuary;
- Our Pre-K Pathfinder program: Winter Wonderland at Trexler Nature Preserve;
- Our Welcome Winter Wildlife Hike at Black River Sanctuary, a prime stopover for migrating birds.

Wildlands Conservancy – Get Out! For Wellness: Mount Wismer Nature Preserve Hike – 1:00PM – 3:00PM EDT at Mount Wismer Nature Preserve, Barrett Township, PA-447, Canadensis, PA 18325. Join us for this scenic adventure in the heart of the Poconos! On the 2-mile trail loop we’ll enjoy panoramic views of Skytop’s West Mountain, Gravel Pond, and Spruce Mountain as well as impressive rock formations on the way back down. Questions? Wildlands Conservancy – PreK Pathfinders: Animal Detectives @ Trexler Nature Preserve – 10:00AM – 11:00AM EST at Trexler Nature Preserve- Environmental Education Center, 4935 Orchard Road, Schnecksville, PA 18078. For children aged 3-5 and their grown-ups. Follow clues to solve a mystery. Learn how to identify animals by their footprints, body coverings, and scat. Questions? Wildlands Conservancy – Campfire Conversations: Land Preservation – 2:00PM – 4:00PM EST at Black River Sanctuary- Black River Rd., 1300 Black River Road, Bethlehem, PA 18015. Join us for the first of three Campfire Conversations, a unique blend of hiking, storytelling, and conservation conversation, beginning with a guided hike to the top of Black River Sanctuary (~ 1.5 miles). At the summit, we’ll gather around a cozy campfire setting to meet some of the Wildlands Conservancy team, including Director of Land Preservation, Dawn Gorham, and Conservation Outreach Coordinator Dennis Demara, as well as a special guest. Wildlands Conservancy – Hoot Hike & Owl Research – 6:30PM – 8:30PM EST at Black River Sanctuary- Church Rd. entrance, 3499 Church Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18015. Meet one of our resident owl ambassadors up close, then hike with welcome special guest Brandon Swayser from Davinci Science Center, on a moderate to difficult 1-mile hike through the sanctuary. Along the way, we’ll listen for owl calls, learn how to identify different species, and discover fascinating insights into their nocturnal behaviors. Questions?
