JuxtaHub Resident Artist to draw for 24 hours straight
[EMMAUS, PA, December 2, 2025] Join JuxtaHub for a unique artistic endurance performance by resident artist Anthony Smith Jr. as he embarks on a 24-hour drawing event on December 7-8, 2025. The performance begins at noon on December 7th and concludes at noon on December 8th, featuring special musical guest Planet Infamy joining the experience. The event is
free and open to the public, though pre-registration is required due to limited space and time slots. It will also be livestreamed; the link for the stream will be shared on JuxtaHub’s social media channels throughout the event.
The immersive event invites the public to witness the creative process unfold in real time as Smith creates and erases over the course of a full day. The first twelve hours will feature a live, large-scale drawing on a wall in an unfinished area of the JuxtaHub building. This space will eventually be developed into an art gallery and human movement studio. Beginning at midnight, the second half of the event will reverse the process: the drawing will be erased methodically, line by line, over the following twelve hours.
“Drawing has always kept me grounded, and this project lets me share that feeling with the community,” said Smith, who recently finished an exhibition at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. “From Poussin’s ‘Et in Arcadia Ego’ to Carl Sagan’s reminder that we are made of stardust, great thinkers have pointed to our connection to something larger than ourselves. The drawing and erasing will unfold over twenty-four hours, and my hope is that the simplicity of the act invites reflection and a sense of connection at a time when the world could use unity.”
A timelapse video of the process will be made and shown at the December 9 JuxTuesday, JuxtaHub’s monthly open house event. Planet Infamy will return for the December 9 JuxTuesday event to perform a live soundtrack to the timelapse video. There will also be a snowflake craft for kids with JuxtaHub Resident Artist Tory Schultz at this JuxTuesday and information about Schultz’s Wacky Wednesdays Winter After School Camp for Kids starting in January 2026.
“We are honored to have Anthony undertaking this unique event in our building,” said Ryan Hill, JuxtaHub’s Chief Programming Officer. “He is an incredibly innovative artist and this particular event is a perfect example of how JuxtaHub seeks to explore the intersection of arts and technology. We’re especially grateful for our partnership with Velaspan, whose high-performance wireless internet network makes events like this possible.”
