EASTON, Pa.—Greater Lehigh Valley Writers’ Group (GLVWG) will hold its monthly meeting from 10 a.m. – noon on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The meeting is offered in a hybrid format—in-person at the Palmer Branch of the Easton Library, 1 Weller Place, Palmer, PA, and online via Zoom.
Membership business will be conducted from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. From 11 a.m.-12 noon, author and English professor Jeffrey Voccola will present “Creating the Story Arc.” How do we bring our story ideas to life on the page? With so many components at play—plot, character, narrative, active scenes of dialogue—the writer can easily become overwhelmed. But mapping out the story can provide clarity and focus. At this craft talk, discussion will focus on finding direction through the narrative arc.
Voccola teaches several writing/editing/publishing courses at Kutztown University. He is the winner of the 2018 Blue Mountain Novel Award for Kings Row. His stories have appeared in The Woven Tale Press, 2 Bridges Review, Fox Chase Review, The Cabinet, Noctua Review, Cottonwood, Beacon Street Review, Folio, and others. His essays have been published in Inside Sources, The Las Vegas Sun, and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
Voccola will present an afternoon workshop, “Character and Point of View”, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. We all love a good plot, but ultimately stories are about people. To become fully immersed in a piece of fiction, readers must understand and connect with the characters. Voccola will discuss character development and using point of view to keep the reader engaged.
Registration is required for the afternoon program. Cost is free for members; $15 for non-members payable via AccuPay. Any person under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for any GLVWG event.
