“Shaping the Future Workforce” Launch Meeting Scheduled for March 6
Carbon County, PA — The Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) and the Pocono Counties Workforce Development Area (PCWDA) are partnering to host a regional virtual conversation designed to better understand the workforce challenges, talent needs, and growth opportunities facing local businesses.
The initiative, titled “Shaping the Future Workforce: A Virtual Business Conversation,” will begin with an initial Virtual Launch Meeting on March 6, bringing together employers from across industries to share real-world insight and help inform future workforce strategies.
This multi-step, virtual dialogue is intended to provide businesses with an efficient and meaningful opportunity to voice their experiences, including hiring needs, skills gaps, and barriers impacting day-to-day operations and long-term growth.
“Our goal is simple: to listen to employers and ensure that workforce and talent development efforts are grounded in the realities businesses are facing,” said Kylie Adams-Weiss, Senior Vice President of the Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corporation. “Strong businesses require strong talent pipelines and resources for growth, and that begins with understanding our counties’ employers’ needs. The Chamber is proud to partner with PCWDA on this initiative and sees long-term value in advocating for our businesses to have these needs met.”
Input gathered through this effort will help guide the development and alignment of initiatives such as training programs, apprenticeships, internships, career pathway strategies, and other workforce solutions designed to support regional economic vitality.
“When employers help shape programs and priorities, the entire workforce system becomes more effective,” said Samuel Hellen, Executive Director for the Pocono Counties Workforce Development Area. “This conversation is about building practical, responsive solutions that help businesses attract, retain, and grow talent.”
The organizations emphasize that participation is open to businesses of all sizes and sectors, particularly those navigating workforce challenges or planning for future growth.
