As family homelessness climbs, this Lehigh Valley nonprofit delivers housing, care, and stability to thousands of women and infants
[Bethlehem, Pa. – February 12, 2026] – Cay Galgon Life House (CGLH) will host its 14th Annual Gala, A Night Under the Stars, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Musikfest Café in Bethlehem, Pa. The event brings together community leaders, advocates, and supporters to raise critical funds for pregnant women and mothers of infants experiencing homelessness and housing instability.
Every day, thousands of pregnant women and mothers of infants in the Lehigh Valley face impossible choices: secure housing or food, prenatal care or essential supplies, stability or survival. Many are fleeing domestic violence. They are traumatized, homeless, and living below the poverty line and, for them, motherhood is a time of profound vulnerability. Without intervention, housing and financial insecurity will elevate the likelihood of experiencing pregnancy risks, premature birth, low birth weight, maternal emergency room visits, infant mortality, and chronic health issues.
“When a pregnant woman walks through our doors, she is often choosing between a safe place to sleep and her next meal, and no mother should ever have to make that choice,” said Paula Albanese, executive director of Cay Galgon Life House. “Our Gala is a celebration, but in reality, it is a lifeline that keeps our doors open, the supply closet stocked, cribs ready and safe, and our team ready and equipped to help these moms who refuse to give up on themselves or their children.”
According to HUD’s 2022 Point-in-Time Count, homelessness among families with children in the Lehigh Valley increased by 51% and The National Diaper Bank Network reports that 1 in 3 families nationwide struggle with diaper needs, a challenge that is pronounced among local at-risk mothers.
Since 2019, the Life House has supported more than 4,019 mothers, including 558 just in 2025, through its Community, Residential, and Beyond These Walls programs. In 2025, CGLH delivered over 2,350 Community Program appointments, more than 1,040 hours of direct services at no cost to clients, and 1,500 pantry visits that ensured mothers could access diapers, formula, and essential baby and maternal supplies.
“Cay Galgon Life House serves new moms at one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives and walks alongside them until stability becomes possible,” said CGLH Board Member, Deb Keba. “As a board, we see the numbers, but what moves us most are the babies who go home from the hospital to a safe crib, the moms who graduate nursing school, and the families who no longer have to wonder where they will sleep at night. That is what our annual gala makes possible.”
A Night Under the Stars will feature an elegant dinner, live entertainment, the presentation of the Guardian Angel Award, and the Life House signature Cake Auction, which showcases the creativity of local bakeries to raise vital funds for vulnerable mothers and babies. Guests will hear a powerful testimony from a Life House resident whose journey from crisis to stability illustrates the impact of CGLH’s wraparound support. Joetta, four-time Olympian, will serve as the evening’s emcee.
