The nonprofit has provided $1.7M in transportation services to individuals who are recovering from substance use disorder (SUD).
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (February 19, 2026)—Danny’s Ride, a nonprofit that provides transportation services to those recovering from substance use disorder (SUD), announced it has provided 78,000 rides since the organization’s inception five years ago. This amounts to $1.7 million that has been invested in transportation, highlighting the crucial role of transportation services in removing barriers faced by people in recovery.
“Each ride represents a person actively engaged in their recovery journey and working to rebuild their life,” said Nancy Knoebel, president and founder of Danny’s Ride. “Transportation should never be the reason someone can’t access care. This milestone reflects the effectiveness of the Danny’s Ride model, the trust our partners place in us, and the resilience of the individuals we serve.”
The goal of Danny’s Ride is to ensure everyone has access to the support and resources needed for long-term recovery without transportation being a barrier. Using Uber and Lyft, Danny’s Ride has provided rides to nearly 8,000 individuals to date, driving over 680,000 miles. About half of those rides were to outpatient treatment, and the rest were to medical appointments, job interviews and other essential resources that support recovery. With these numbers, Danny’s Ride continues to expand its reach and support for individuals in recovery, ensuring that transportation is no longer a barrier to critical services.
Danny’s Ride serves individuals across Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and New Jersey, with plans to grow even further. The goal is clear: ensure that transportation is never the barrier between someone and the care and services they need to move forward.
