Allentown, Pa. – In line with his promise to keep residents fully informed about the activities and services of Lehigh County government, Executive Josh Siegel has launched an account on Substack, a popular online platform that hosts newsletters, podcasts and other content.
Residents can subscribe for free at www.substack.com/@executivejoshsiegel
The account expands the list of sites where the administration shares news. In addition to the website (www.lehighcounty.org), the county is on Facebook (www.facebook.com/CountyofLehigh/); Instagram (www.instagram.com/lehighcounty_official/); and X (www.x.com/CountyofLehigh)
While this area continues to be served by excellent, hardworking journalists, staffing at Lehigh Valley news outlets has been sorely depleted in recent years. As a result, information on essential programs and events can go under reported.
The county intends to fill the gap. Apart from posts about nuts-and-bolts operations, Substack subscribers “can look forward to stories about the untiring and largely unsung employees who provide vital services to children and seniors, to veterans, to people experiencing homelessness or struggling with mental health challenges or substance abuse disorders,” Siegel said. “We will also tell the stories of people who have been able to survive and thrive by using these services.”
