Bethlehem, PA – March 31, 2026 – State Senator Lisa M. Boscola announced today that Northampton Community College has been awarded a $150,000 state grant through the Parent Pathways Program to assist parents attending the college with their efforts to further their education.
“Pennsylvania parents seeking to further their education often face the difficult balancing act of providing for the children while working on earning a degree to better their families’ lives,” Senator Boscola stated. “Through this Parent Pathways grant, Northampton Community College will be able to better help parents meet the demands of attending school while raising a family.”
The Parent Pathways Grant is a competitive grant program that allows educational institutions to apply for funding to expand parent programming, resources, and supports or to implement parent programming, resources and supports such as wrap-around services for students, expansion of child care facilities, staffing salary support for parent navigators, transportation supports, and other expansion of work already being accomplished on campus, to provide scholarships covering tuition, fees, housing, meals, books, child care, etc. and to offer the use of stipends/emergency funding up to a maximum amount as determined by the institution.
Awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Education, 11 educational institutions received over $1.6 million in funding. In just three years the program has invested over $4.8 million in 34 institutions across the Commonwealth.
