Crayon Lovers Celebrated National Crayon Day at Crayola Experience, Kicked Off 6th Annual Million Crayon Giveaway

Festivities mark official return of fan-favorite Dandelion to the Crayola Color Pack

EASTON, Pa. (March 31, 2026) – Hundreds of crayon lovers celebrated National Crayon Day with Crayola Experience in downtown Easton today kicking off the brand’s 6th Annual Million Crayon Giveaway by creating their free, one-of-a-kind crayon box.

This year’s celebration also marks the official return of the beloved Crayola color Dandelion—for good. The warm, bright yellow that adds a spark of sunshine to the crayon box is formally coming out of retirement, once again working full-time to help inspire colorful creative moments.

Guests who had signed up for the free giveaway created unique 32-count crayon boxes with any color assortment of their favorite Crayola crayons from a 40-foot-long Pick Your Pack wall holding nearly half a million crayons—including Dandelion. Registration is still open for this colorful experience.

Kids also met crayon character guest of honor “Dan D”, exercised their creativity at the Dandelion coloring station, and posed for photos in front of a Dandelion backdrop.

The giveaway runs through May 31 (while supplies last), and the Dandelion-themed activities are available through April 5 (Dandelion Day) in The Crayola Store, which is open to the public and adjacent to the ticketed attraction.

The National Crayon Day festivities also were held at the Crayola Experience locations in Florida and Minnesota. Those not able to visit Crayola Experience for the giveaway and onsite activities can still join in the celebration by visiting Crayola.com to download free National Crayon Day and Dandelion coloring pages.

The Crayola Experience Million Crayon Giveaway is free, but registration is required. Crayola fans are encouraged to sign up early as reservations are expected to fill quickly. To reserve a free custom crayon box and learn more, please visit www.CrayolaExperience.com/Easton.

COLORFUL CRAYON FACTS:

  • Crayola makes 13 million crayons a day. That’s 3 billion a year! (If you laid all those crayons end to end, they would circle the globe six times!)
  • The Crayola color Dandelion—described by teachers as the only true yellow—was retired in 2017 but rejoined the Crayola 24ct and 64ct crayon boxes full time this year.
  • Blue is most Americans’ favorite crayon color.
  • The first box of Crayola crayons sold in 1903 cost a nickel and had eight colors in it—black, brown, blue, red, violet, orange, yellow, and green (the same colors that are in the 8-count box today).
  • The smell of crayons is the 18th most recognizable scent for adults in the U.S. (coffee and peanut butter are first and second).

*The Crayola Experience Million Crayon Giveaway is being held at the attraction’s three locations across the country. Guests must register on the Crayola Experience website for a date to pick up their crayon box and pick out their crayons at one of The Crayola Store locations adjacent to the attraction in Easton, Pa.; Orlando, Fla.; and Bloomington, Minn. (Mall of America). The giveaway runs March 31 through May 31, 2026, while supplies last. Sign up is on a first come, first served basis. Limit two (2) crayon boxes per household. No purchase necessary. Additional restrictions apply. See website for details and to register.
