Galactic heroes unite with real-world healers to make patients smile  

Allentown, Pa. (May 4, 2026) — On “May the Fourth,” beloved characters from the Star Wars universe descended upon Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital, part of Jefferson Health.

Local Star Wars fan groups Kyber Base and Garrison Carida continued their tradition of teaming up with Sodexo Food Services for an out-of-this-world experience.

About 30 costumed volunteers spent the day meeting and taking photos with families. Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Din Djarin, Tusken Raiders and Stormtroopers were among the fan favorites.

Starlight Children’s Foundation donated special t-shirts and backpacks for the patients.

The characters also visited patients and colleagues at Lehigh Valley Hospital—Cedar Crest and Lehigh Valley Hospital—Muhlenberg.
