Candidate for House District 22 to Hold Public Forum After Opponent Refuses to Accept Debate

ALLENTOWN, PA  — Candidate for State Representative CeCe Gerlach has formally called on her primary opponent, Ana Tiburcio, to participate in a public debate ahead of the House District 22 Democratic primary. Despite publicly stating she would debate, Tiburcio has yet to accept any of the debate invitations extended to her — leaving voters without the opportunity to see the candidates side by side.

Committed to transparency and direct engagement with constituents, Rep. Gerlach is taking matters into her own hands. Rather than wait any longer, she will host a Virtual Town Hall open to all members of the community — and Ana Tiburcio is formally invited to attend and participate. Gerlach believes the voters of House District 22 deserve to hear directly from the candidates seeking to represent them, and she remains ready and willing to share the virtual stage.

Multiple local news outlets expressed interest in hosting the debate if the candidates would both attend. The Gerlach campaign made several attempts to schedule a debate with Tiburcio and her team, but no responses were received.

The Town Hall will be held on Thursday, May 5th at 5:00 PM via Zoom, with the link to be shared prior to the start of the event. The conversation will also be streamed live on Facebook, ensuring as many community members as possible can tune in. Residents are encouraged to RSVP in advance at https://mobilize.us/s/w8wqSS and to submit any questions they’d like addressed.
