Another exciting feature for this year’s event: the 9th Annual Lights in the Parkway 5K and Walk!  The City of Allentown has again partnered with Run Lehigh Valley to provide this unique opportunity to enjoy the spectacular display. The event will take place on Wednesday, November 27 beginning at 7:00pm for runners with the walkers following.   Interested persons can register and see the course at www.runlehighvalley.com. No race day registration is accepted.

The City of Allentown is partnering with Run Lehigh Valley to host a “Paws in the Parkway” dog-friendly night out at Lights in the Parkway!  Runners and walkers may register their dog(s) for a canine wonderland, featuring doggie food and treat samples, pictures with Santa, and a commemorative bandana to sport for the occasion. The event will be held on Tuesday, December 3 and Tuesday, December 10 at 7:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.runlehighvalley.com or search “Paws in the Parkway” on Facebook.

At the end of the route, patrons are invited to visit the Gift Barn which features a large selection of one-of-a-kind decorations, ornaments and holiday collectibles for everyone on your holiday shopping list.  Hot chocolate, popcorn, cookies and other refreshments are also offered inside the Gift Barn. Credit cards are accepted in the Gift Barn. The Gift Barn is run by the Allentown Patriots.

The City of Allentown’s Parks Department is the creative talent behind Lights in the Parkway.  It is their lighting expertise that produces just the right illumination, shadow and silhouetting effects for this imaginative wonderland.

Lights in the Parkway continues to show commitment to using energy-efficient LED lights in all new displays and to convert more existing displays each year to LED bulbs. LED lights use 85% less energy than traditional bulbs and last about four times longer.  Some 90% of all bulbs used in displays are LEDs.
