Spring arrives in one week and the Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation says there is no better time to remind the public that exciting seasonal employment opportunities are still available with our team.<\/p>\n

Various seasonal positions are available including lifeguards, pool gate attendants and concession stand cashiers, summer playground program instructors, and parks and golf course laborers.\u00a0 Pay rates are $9.00 to $12.00 per hour to start based upon position.<\/p>\n

Lifeguarding jobs are available at four pools. If you enjoy the outdoors and being around water, this is the job for you.\u00a0 No previous training or job experience is required. In house training and certification is available to prepare you for this rewarding job opportunity.\u00a0 Starting pay rate is $12.00 per hour.<\/p>\n

The Aquatics Department has a variety of summer jobs available starting with attendants and cashiers at our pools and concession stands. These positions consist of daily selling of admissions and food products and are a great employment opportunity for those who enjoy interaction with the public and offering great customer service. Starting pay rate is $9.00 per hour.<\/p>\n

Summer playground program instructor positions are available for individuals interested in working directly with city youth. The summer playground program instructor is responsible for directing and leading games, arts and crafts, field trips and annual Romper Day celebration preparations at a given playground site.\u00a0 The position is a great opportunity for individuals looking at a career in the education field. Starting pay rate is $10.00 per hour.<\/p>\n

The Parks Department seasonal laborer position involves a wide variety of tasks, including but not limited to grass cutting, litter collection, garbage collection, landscaping and general activities for parks maintenance. All are necessary components in maintaining the city\u2019s vast, beautiful park system. No previous experience is needed. Parks seasonal laborers positions enjoy a Monday through Friday work week that allows successful candidates to enjoy summer weekends off. Starting pay rate is $12.00 per hour.<\/p>\n

If you are looking to spend the summer outdoors around Allentown Municipal Golf Course, then the temporary part-time golf course laborer job is for you. Learn the daily maintenance practices needed to open the course each day. Duties include course set-up, which involves changing pins, moving tees, filling divots, and watering. An additional assignment may include mowing greens, tees and fairways and raking sand bunkers. Prior work experience is not required. Take advantage of on the job training as well as golf and driving range privileges. Starting pay rate is $12.00 per hour.<\/p>\n
