{"id":100183,"date":"2020-03-12T23:15:35","date_gmt":"2020-03-13T03:15:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=100183"},"modified":"2021-06-03T21:57:42","modified_gmt":"2021-06-04T01:57:42","slug":"northampton-county-accepting-applications-for-livable-landscape-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=100183","title":{"rendered":"Northampton County Accepting Applications for Livable Landscape Grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>Northampton County Executive Lamont McClure is pleased to announce that through the Division of Parks &amp; Recreation, applications for the 2020 Livable Landscapes Grant Program are being accepted March 4, 2020 until 3 pm, April 30, 2020.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Livable Landscapes Grant Program 2020 priorities include:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Land conservation:\u00a0fee simple acquisition or conservation easement of critical habitat, natural areas, agricultural lands, forest, and land threatened by development<\/li>\n<li>Ecological restoration: riparian buffers, stream stabilization and habitat improvements, native grass &amp; wildflower meadows, rain gardens, and climate change adaptations<\/li>\n<li>Education and outreach: adopt environmental regulations to protect natural resources, open space, riparian corridors, greenways, and trails<\/li>\n<li>Municipal park development and rehabilitation: recreation and trails, with green infrastructure, best management practices, and stormwater management strategies<\/li>\n<li>Regional trail connections such as: Two Rivers Area Trail, Northern Tier Trail, D&amp;L Trail<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThank you to County Executive Lamont McClure and Northampton County Council for their commitment and continued support for Livable Landscapes grant funding to implement Northampton County\u2019s Livable Landscapes to conserve, restore, and enhance natural resources, greenways, blueways, parks, and trails.\u00a0The grant funding helps our municipalities and other organizations implement their conservation and recreation goals throughout the County\u201d, stated Sherry Acevedo, Conservation Coordinator.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Grant submission timeline includes:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Land Preservation projects are on an open grant round monthly throughout the year<\/li>\n<li>All other projects, application timeline<\/li>\n<li>Application grant round opens \u2013 March 4, 2020<\/li>\n<li>Grant workshop \u2013 March 25, 2020 at 9:00 \u2013 11:30 am<\/li>\n<li>Application grant round close \u2013 April 30, 2020 by 3 pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Eligible applicants include: Municipalities and Council of Governments in Northampton County, non-profit organizations, and institutions of Higher Education.
