*** Update | <\/strong>HARRISBURG, PA (April 7) \u2013 Effective 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC), in consultation with the Office of the Governor, Pennsylvania Department of Health, and Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) opened the statewide 2020 trout season. ***

I\u2019ve been longing for Opening Day of Trout Season for the last few months. Stripping line from old reels and spinning new line back on. Checking the eye guides, inspecting lures and replenishing my tackle box. I recall the days in my teens till early 20\u2019s when friends would get up early, meet at one house, grab a bite to eat, check out if everyone had enough bait and head down to the Jordan Creek. We had our usual spot, just upstream from the Foot Bridge by the 2nd<\/sup> baseball diamond (now removed for safety). We would get there a good 2 hours ahead of time, talk with other fisherman and set wait for 8AM to tick by! Those friendships still remain today and we connect every now and then to share stories past and Cast a Line!<\/p>\n

Back then the Swiss Swing Spinner was quite popular with anglers all around, not sure if it is still made today, haven\u2019t seen it. Other classic spinners I always have on hand: Blue Fox Silver Vibrax, Rooster Tails, Panther Martin, Mepps & Joe\u2019s Flies. All in various colors\/sizes, blades, and with fly attachment if necessary.<\/p>\n

Fresh mealworms & redworms from Willy Joe\u2019s Bait Shop in Cementon\/Northampton, Velveeta Cheese, canned corn, mini marshmallows, and even some bread.<\/p>\n

Remember to keep 6 feet apart while fishing, basically the length of standard fishing rod. Always good practice when casting not to be on top of one another.<\/p>\n
