Best way to think of how a food would fit into a recipe, is to bite right into it, release the aromatics!<\/p>\n<p>Tasting an item isn\u2019t just with your taste buds, listen to the crunch, breathe in the scent, use all your senses.\u2026..if you are a Foodie, then you know what I\u2019m talking about!<\/p>\n<p>Unlike most fruits that ripen on trees, pears ripen better once picked and off the tree.\u00a0 Pears are one of the oldest beloved fruits and were once considered \u201cA Gift from the Gods!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take this gift and incorporate it into some recipes!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pear Salsa<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1 Pear, cored &amp; finely chopped<\/p>\n<p>1 Apple, cored &amp; finely chopped<\/p>\n<p>2 Kiwifruit, peeled &amp; finely chopped<\/p>\n<p>1 can mandarin orange segments, cut in half, reserve juice<\/p>\n<p>1 T. Honey<\/p>\n<p>1 Lemon (1 wedge for juice), reserved lemon<\/p>\n<p>Combine fruit together in a bowl. Pour honey and lemon juice over and stir to incorporate.<\/p>\n<p>Cover and place in fridge until ready to serve.<\/p>\n<p>Serve with tortillas, \u00a0graham crackers, spoon over yogurt, eat straight or as a side for lunch and dinner.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-100524\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Pear-Salsa-300x166.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"166\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Pear-Salsa-300x166.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Pear-Salsa.jpg 672w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Dinner\u2026\u2026\u2026..<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Poached Cod w\/ Pear Salsa<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>6 ozs cod (or other white fish)<\/p>\n<p>Reserved juice from mandarin oranges (pear salsa recipe)<\/p>\n<p>Lemon wedge<\/p>\n<p>Salt &amp; Pepper<\/p>\n<p>Lemon slices, garnish<\/p>\n<p>Microgreens, garnish (not pictured)<\/p>\n<p>Mix reserved mandarin juice with 1 tsp (or 1 wedge of lemon) and little water.
