{"id":100591,"date":"2020-04-16T00:22:39","date_gmt":"2020-04-16T04:22:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=100591"},"modified":"2020-04-16T00:22:39","modified_gmt":"2020-04-16T04:22:39","slug":"city-government-buildings-remain-closed-street-cleaning-suspension-extended-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=100591","title":{"rendered":"CITY GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS REMAIN CLOSED; STREET CLEANING SUSPENSION EXTENDED"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Allentown city government buildings will remain closed to the public indefinitely.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Ray O\u2019Connell closed city buildings on March 25 after Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf issued a \u201cStay at Home\u201d order for Lehigh and Northampton counties.\u00a0 The mayor\u2019s original order was then extended for two weeks and was due to expire Friday, April 17.\u00a0 The new order just extends the closure indefinitely.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor O\u2019Connell is also extending his order suspending the city\u2019s street cleaning program now through Sunday, May 3.\u00a0 The mayor\u2019s original order went into effect on March 17.\u00a0 Although residents may still see a sweeper operating on their street, no street cleaning tickets will be issued during the suspension.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Wolf has ordered all non-essential businesses to close to help mitigate the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
