Typically around this time of the year, the Affiliated Chambers of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce host Restaurant Weeks throughout local communities to help drive business to restaurants during a slower time of the year. With the recent COVID-19 mandates that limit eateries to takeout and delivery only, the team pushed the Restaurant Weeks back. More importantly, as this pandemic progresses, it is clear that our businesses need help and they need it now.<\/p>\n

The Lehigh Valley is full of so many small businesses that display heart, grit, and love for their communities. Many of these businesses are taking a hard hit with the COVID-19 mandates. The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber, now more than ever, is here to rally around these businesses, build connections, and increase exposure. One of the newest initiatives is the Chamber\u2019s Gift Card Grab Week, which starts this Sunday, May 3rd<\/sup> and runs through Saturday May 9th<\/sup>, 2020.<\/p>\n

The Chamber asked businesses to come up with a gift card deals to offer consumers. For example, pay $25, get a $30 gift card OR pay $50 and get a $60 gift card. All the deals have been uploaded on the Chamber\u2019s website for a Valley-wide participation list.<\/p>\n

This worldwide pandemic is like nothing we have ever seen before and for that reason, the Chamber is striving to extend its reach beyond normal limits. This initiative was not restricted to members. Both members AND future members were invited to join in this marketing initiative. This was FREE for all to participate.\u00a0 Any and all business types were welcomed, in effort to help positively impact cash flow in.<\/p>\n

Chamber Executive Vice President of Affiliated Chambers Jessica O\u2019Donnell said, \u201cWe need our small business community and they need us\u2014it\u2019s that simple.\u00a0 Gift Card Grab Week was created to encourage widespread community support to shop local and buy local.\u00a0 We can\u2019t think of a better way to boost activity and sales for our local small businesses than our Gift Card Grab Week concept.\u00a0 Special thanks to everyone in advance as we look to rally together!\u201d<\/p>\n

This is a valley-wide initiative! In addition to the Affiliated Chambers, which include East Penn, Greater Bath, Greater Northern, Hellertown-Lower Saucon, Nazareth, Northampton, Southern Lehigh, Western Lehigh, and Whitehall, the initiative will also include businesses located in Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton.<\/p>\n

In addition to the exposure from GLVCC through Gift Card Grab Week, the Chamber launched and continues to promote and update the #OpenWeStandLV webpage<\/a> that lists, by community, businesses that still serve during this pandemic. The campaign was inspired by the #OpenWeStand movement started by GoDaddy. We are encouraging you all to support your local businesses by taking advantage of the creative solutions each one has implemented to provide their product or service to the community.<\/p>\n

Lastly, save the date for another upcoming and new initiative that is happening valley-wide. The Affiliated Chambers of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce along with the Small Business Council is hosting a Virtual Small Business Saturday on May 30th<\/sup>. More details to be released soon.<\/p>\n
