Lafayette formed a partnership with PBS39 in 2012 to produce coverage of the national elections. The partnership then expanded with Lafayette Lens, a half-hour series covering issues of global importance, including cybersecurity, immigration, autism spectrum disorder, autonomous vehicles, gene editing and most recently, the widening influence of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m always awed by these students and honored to be able to mentor them,\u201d said Monica Evans, PBS39 Executive Producer. \u201cBut this semester especially, they showed grit and know-how, through truly unprecedented circumstances, so i\u2019m thrilled to see their work come to life.\u201d<\/p>\n
Other Lehigh Valley Public Media team members, including Chief Content Officer Yoni Greenbaum and Director of Production Javier Diaz, along with members of the Reporter Corps\u00ae<\/a>, helped develop and produce the program. Throughout this project, public policy students had the opportunity to serve as producers, talent, camera and audio operators.<\/p>\n \u201cConsidering the many challenges we faced this semester with meeting remotely, the students displayed remarkable creativity and perseverance as they reached out to officials and experts across the political spectrum to produce compelling content for the next edition of Lafayette Lens,\u201d said Mark Crain, William E. Simon Professor of Political Economy and chair of policy studies at Lafayette College.<\/p>\n \u201cI can’t thank the staff members at PBS39 enough for their professionalism and encouragement throughout the semester.
