WHAT: A block party focused on reviewing community achievements from the summer, envisioning a future that benefits all community members, and declaring the organization\u2019s plan for the fall<\/p>\n

WHERE: Bethlehem Rose Garden Bandshell<\/p>\n

WHEN: Saturday, September 5, 2020 3:00pm<\/p>\n

BETHLEHEM<\/b> – It’s been 4 months since the Lehigh Valley first gathered this year to stand with the Black Lives Matter movement. What have organizers done since then and what comes next? How can the community become an active part of it? Join Lehigh Valley Stands Up<\/a> on Saturday, September 5, 2020 from 3 – 5pm at the Bethlehem Rose Garden Bandshell as they celebrate transformative victories, discuss how each member of the community can make a difference in the movement, and continue to imagine and push for the changes the Valley needs to see!!<\/p>\n

What does it mean to #FundTheBlock? Meet the LVSU organizers who have been leading this work and learn about their fight to expose corruption, invest in the community, and protect and uplift voters across the Lehigh Valley. Collectively, participants will imagine what the community could look like with funds reallocated away from bloated police budgets and towards supporting mental and physical health, housing, infrastructure, arts, and education.<\/p>\n

Community organizations will be on hand to provide food pantry services, register voters, help folks apply for mail-in ballots, fill out the 2020 Census, and become poll workers for November. Participants will be encouraged to visualize community change with a giant community-driven vision board, group singing, t-shirt making, photo and video booths, and additional socially distant activities. Be sure to wear a mask!<\/p>\n

The Lehigh Valley can be a better place where every resident has the freedom to thrive. All people need are the resources to #FundTheBlock!<\/p>\n
