A food truck was on site, band playing inside and lots of friends and family milling around enjoying the evening.

Soon as you walk in you are greeted by a replica of the Witch House in Salem, Mass. Every time I step inside I feel as if I walked through a portal and am transmitted back in time. GHS has a warm & inviting presence, that makes you feel at home. The friendly staff greets everyone and goes above and beyond to assist in any way. Lots of Family History adorns every wall, owner Bob Piano leads the tours and makes rounds to talk to each and every customer.

In the last 3 years I’ve attended many events and even held my own function on site. I’ve come to know the staff and made lots of new friends that call Gallows Hill Spirits home.

With the upcoming Halloween Blue Moon on Oct. 31st, I had a chance to reach out to Bob for a quick interview:

TVL: Can you tell us, where/how the idea came about for Gallows Hill Spirits Co.

GHS: I started home brewing beer in 1994 and had won some competitions with my beers. I wanted to do something for myself but the brewery market in the valley is already pretty crowded, so I started looking at craft spirits. The growth was on the same trajectory but there was only one established in the valley and I knew of only a couple more in planning. Five years and a few classes later we had a location and a product that I found viable.

TVL: What are some of your milestones over the last 3 years?

GHS: Getting the doors open, winning gold in international competition, nearly 1000 pieces of positive reviews online.

TVL: What type of barrels do you use when aging?

GHS: We use #3 char American White Oak, I use two different suppliers one in MN and the other in ME.

TVL: As a Master Distiller, what is your favorite part of the process?

GHS: Blending, the rest is chemical processing, but blending can be like alchemy.

TVL: Do you plan on adding anything New to your Craft Line of Spirits?

GHS: Always, we have a coffee liqueur, a pepper vodka, a horseradish vodka, a cherry liqueur, a root beer liqueur all waiting to go, label approval has become a major stumbling block that requires focused attention. Every label and recipe has to be approved by the Federal government and the process has gone from 2 weeks when we started to over 2 months of with constant contact to push things along.

TVL: WOW……This lineup of new products sounds amazing and I look forward to the release of each one!
