{"id":103748,"date":"2020-11-06T12:31:27","date_gmt":"2020-11-06T17:31:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=103748"},"modified":"2020-11-06T12:31:27","modified_gmt":"2020-11-06T17:31:27","slug":"mayor-sal-panto-jr-and-community-partners-welcome-cate-mobile-covid-19-testing-unit-in-easton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=103748","title":{"rendered":"Mayor Sal Panto, Jr. and Community Partners  Welcome CATE Mobile COVID-19 Testing Unit in Easton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Easton, PA \u2013 <\/strong>In partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Latino Connection, Capital BlueCross, GIANT, Lancaster Health Center, Neighborhood Health Centers of the Lehigh Valley, St. Luke\u2019s University Health Network, and Greater Easton Development Partnership, Pennsylvania\u2019s COVID-19 Mobile Response Unit visited Easton today.<\/p>\n<p>CATE is offering free COVID-19 testing, health education, and resources today, November 6, and tomorrow, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside Paxinosa Elementary School at 12th &amp; Northampton Streets. Neighborhood Health Centers of the Lehigh Valley is providing the virus test and is also providing free flu shots for community members who are not being tested for COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>CATE will return to Easton on November 9 and 10 for stops at the Easton Neighborhood Center located at 902 Philadelphia Road in Easton from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days. The tests for these locations are provided by St. Luke\u2019s University Health Network. (Note: flu shots will not be available on these days.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving the CATE mobile COVID-19 testing unit in Easton is a great resource for our residents, and providing much-needed flu shots is a plus. I am grateful to all of the participating sponsors,\u201d said City of Easton Mayor Sal Panto, Jr.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CATE mobile response initiative has had an incredible impact in our communities since it began making tour stops in August,\u201d said George Fernandez, Founder and CEO of Latino Connection. \u201cWe\u2019ve administered more than 1,000 COVID-19 tests, handed out 5,000 bags with facemasks and PPE items, and welcomed more than 4,000 visitors so far \u2013 and we have many more stops on the calendar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CATE\u2019s tour has been extended through mid-December. Services are available on a first-come, first-serves basis. CATE COVID-19 testing and flu shots are here, they\u2019re accessible, and they\u2019re free. All of this supports the work that needs to be done to not only raise awareness, but also to increase access to much-needed services that will support our overall community\u2019s health. I am proud NHCLV is here to represent and serve in this critically important public health service initiative,\u201d said Melissa Miranda, RN, CEO, of NHCLV.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;West Ward Community Initiative is thankful to partner with great community health organizations, NHCLV, and St. Luke\u2019s University Health Network to bring easily assessable COVID-19 testing to our Easton neighborhoods. As we head into the winter months with a new uptick in COVID cases, we want to make sure our neighbors are staying healthy and being cared for if they are sick.
