Partnering with the Borough of Catasauqua, this event is designed to support local businesses and restaurants, while providing a festive atmosphere with live music from Third Hand Acoustic and Common Bond, plus dozens of craft and business vendors and food trucks.

“The holidays this year are looking a little different,” said Kylie Adams, Manager of Affiliated Chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. “The Whitehall Area Chamber has been very pleased to be working with the Borough of Catasauqua on this event and to support our local businesses in Catty on Small Business Saturday! We know the holiday shopping season will be unconventional, so bringing people out into our community to support local businesses is important. That, paired with great craft vendors and food trucks, are a sure-fire way to kick off the holiday season big!”

According to American Express, 62% of U.S. businesses reported that they need to see consumer spending return to pre-COVID levels by the end of 2020 to stay in business. “This number is staggering,” said Adams, “and it hits home far too much when our communities are so heavily comprised of small businesses. We’re hoping that by making Small Business Saturday a bit flashier, we’ll be bringing attention to the businesses who need it most. Shopping small and shopping local isn’t a ‘one-day’ event, but something we should be doing all year long to help our neighbors.”

The event will feature local businesses open with special deals. For example, Melvin’s Farm Stand will be have farm fresh produce, meats and cheeses, vegan treats, jams and jellies, and hot sauces, as well as Christmas Trees. The Gas House, nearby, will offer live music from the Chelsea Meyers Band, while the festival will also feature live music from Third Hand Acoustic and Common Bond, as well as dance performances from 3D Dance of Northampton.

Blondie’s will be open serving up delicious cupcakes and Slovakian food, and Taylor House Brewing and Triple Sun Spirits will be bringing the adult beverages, while other craft vendors and food trucks will also be participating. “This could ideally be a one-stop-shop for your holiday shopping,” said Adams. “Between the handmade craft items and different small business vendors, there’s something to find for everyone.”

The event will also feature 12 food trucks and over 30 craft and business vendors. Samantha Scavuzzo, of Remington & Vernick Engineers, Inc., said she was “honored to help small and local businesses in the Borough of Catasauqua.” Businesses outside of the Front Street festival location are participating too, such as Cathy’s Creative Catering and Tony Top Cat’s; they will have special coupons available with Small Business Saturday ‘swag’ to be picked up at the Whitehall Area Chamber’s booth at the event.

“Most importantly, we are looking to gather safely and make sure the holiday season is live and well,” said Adams. The Chamber has partnered with local security firm Omega Protective Services to help monitor and enforce the wearing of masks and social distancing protocols, as well as to check IDs where alcohol will be sold. “Omega has always been a great partner of the Chamber in years prior,” said Adams. “We’re grateful to have them here to ensure that we have a peaceful and enjoyable festival while being safe, too.”

For more information, follow the event page with Whitehall Area Chamber at: https://www.facebook.com/events/2731211613871599

Please note: An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present.
