STATE HOUSE CANDIDATE PETER SCHWEYER\u00a0<\/strong>RECEIVES ENDORSEMENT OF APSCUF\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Follows recent endorsement from PSEA\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

ALLENTOWN, PA \u2013 Allentown City Councilman Peter Schweyer, Democratic nominee for State Representative in the 22nd<\/sup> District, received the endorsement of the Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties.\u00a0 The union represents 6,000 faculty members and coaches of Pennsylvania\u2019s fourteen state-owned universities.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Schweyer previously received the endorsement of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, which represents 180,000 school teachers and education support professionals, staff in state higher education institutions, nurses in health care facilities, retired educators, and college students preparing to become teachers.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Schweyer was endorsed by both organizations for the May primary election as well.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Schweyer was a public school teacher in West Philadelphia after graduating from Penn State University, and is married to a Pre-K teacher.\u00a0 Their oldest daughter attends Lehigh Parkway Elementary School in the Allentown School District.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI am so very appreciative of the hard working professionals who are educating our students and preparing them to be the next generation of doctors, engineers and social workers and business leaders.\u00a0 The endorsements of PSCUF and PSEA come as people across the Lehigh Valley and Pennsylvania are looking for new leaders who will support public education and greater access to higher education.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition, Schweyer has received endorsements from the PA AFL-CIO, AFSCME District Council 88, the Lehigh Valley Labor Council, UFCW Local 1776, Carpenters Local 600, Teamsters Local 773, Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local 5, Planned Parenthood PAC, Humane Society PA PAC, and an extensive list of local elected officials including Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski, Bethlehem Mayor Bob Donchez, and State Representatives Dan McNeill and Mike Schlossberg.<\/p>\n
