{"id":104433,"date":"2020-12-15T17:22:43","date_gmt":"2020-12-15T22:22:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=104433"},"modified":"2020-12-15T17:22:43","modified_gmt":"2020-12-15T22:22:43","slug":"snow-emergency-in-the-city-of-allentown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=104433","title":{"rendered":"SNOW EMERGENCY IN THE CITY OF ALLENTOWN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Mayor Ray O\u2019Connell is declaring a Snow Emergency in the City of Allentown effective at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>By ordinance, a \u201csnow emergency,\u201d requires owners to remove their vehicles from posted routes. Signs are posted on snow emergency routes, which are also published on the city website,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.allentownpa.gov\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.allentownpa.gov\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1608147912750000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFktX6WumOfPoxjIFM_KnZKjJjf3w\">www.allentownpa.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>City Public Works Director Craig Messinger warns that vehicles left on designated routes during a snow emergency will be ticketed and towed.\u00a0<u>Parking is prohibited on the routes until the emergency is officially lifted<\/u>. Residents should also go to the city website or avail themselves of local news media sources to learn when the snow emergency is lifted.<\/p>\n<p>City residents are advised to wait until plows have been down their street before shoveling driveways and are asked to avoid throwing snow back onto the streets.<b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Allentown Parking Authority is making two of its decks available for free parking for residents beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 through 9:00 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2020:<\/p>\n<p>Spiral Deck (on Linden between Eighth &amp; Ninth)<\/p>\n<p>Arena North Deck (712 W. Linden)<\/p>\n<p>Should those decks be full, Authority personnel will direct drivers to the next available deck.<\/p>\n<p>Parking will also be available in two Allentown School District Parking Decks:<\/p>\n<p>18<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&amp; Turner Parking Deck<\/p>\n<p>Saint Cloud &amp; Liberty Parking Deck<\/p>\n<p>The Allentown Fairgrounds parking lot will also be available beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
