Fake snow may look appealing on a Christmas tree, but it is not good for the mulch that the City of Allentown produces from those discarded trees.<\/p>\n
As a result, the City of Allentown Bureau of Recycling and Solid Waste will not be collecting \u201creal\u201d Christmas trees that have been sprayed with fake snow, known as tree flocking.<\/p>\n
The snow that is sprayed onto trees is not acceptable in the city\u2019s yard waste collection program and cannot be mixed-in with other yard waste that is ground up for mulch.<\/p>\n
If you have a real Christmas tree that has the fake snow sprayed onto it, please call the Bureau of Recycling and Solid Waste at 610-437-8729 for disposal options.<\/p>\n
Christmas trees and other yard waste will be collected in the city during the weeks of Sunday, January 10 and Sunday, January 17.<\/p>\n
Residents should place their tree and other yard waste out on their recycling night.<\/p>\n
