{"id":104845,"date":"2021-01-16T02:29:03","date_gmt":"2021-01-16T07:29:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=104845"},"modified":"2021-01-16T02:29:26","modified_gmt":"2021-01-16T07:29:26","slug":"finance-director-nominated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=104845","title":{"rendered":"CITY OF ALLENTOWN FINANCE DIRECTOR NOMINATED"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Mayor Ray O\u2019Connell today announced the nomination of Seth O\u2019Neill as Director of the Allentown Finance Department.<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>O\u2019Neill has been employed by the city for over 13 years.\u00a0 He has served as Operations Manager of the Bureau of Revenue &amp; Audit since January 2015.<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>As operations manager, O\u2019Neill supervises 14 direct reports and oversees revenue estimation, tax budgeting and tax policy for the department.<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeth has a firm grasp of the intricate workings of the finance department,\u201d said O\u2019Connell.\u00a0 \u201cHe has worked well across all bureaus of the department and took a leadership role in projecting and then reducing the 2020 General Fund budget deficit and cash shortfall caused by the pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>It is the job of the director of finance to\u00a0<\/b>ensure the financial stability of the city by managing all financial functions in an efficient, cost-effective and responsive manner.
