HARRISBURG<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh\/Berks) issued the following statement in reaction to Gov. Tom Wolf\u2019s 2021-22 budget proposal, which seeks to raise taxes and increase spending:<\/p>\n \u201cDuring these difficult times that our state is facing, I continue to support a timely balanced budget and no new taxes. The governor\u2019s budget proposal to raise taxes on individuals and small businesses is out of touch.<\/p>\n \u201cWe should be looking to cut wasteful spending, instead of an increase on people\u2019s taxes. We must have a continued focus on dealing with health care issues relating to the pandemic, reopening schools safely and responsibly getting our economy moving again.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is only the beginning of the budget process. When the hearings are done, the General Assembly will work with the governor to achieve a final balanced budget that protects taxpayers, reins in unnecessary and excessive spending, and educates our children.
