Center Valley, PA \u2013 Mar 17.\u00a0 The third of three events in the Meet the Experts series, hosted by the Council for Retail and Sales (CRS) at DeSales University, is scheduled for April 15 from 3 – 4 p.m. EST via Zoom and will feature a top executive from Walmart.\u00a0 The title of the talk is \u201cDisruption, Innovation and The Future of Retail.\u201d Scott Eckert, SVP, Next Generation Retail and Principal, Store No. 8, is the featured presenter.\u00a0 Scott will discuss trends in retailing and innovations at Walmart that have and will disrupt the retail industry.<\/p>\n
Store No. 8 is Walmart\u2019s incubator which is helping to transform the future of retail at Walmart.\u00a0 His team is applying new concepts and technologies that have the potential to change how people shop. The mission is to keep Walmart competitive by helping define the future of retail.\u00a0 Innovative technologies including robotics and virtual and augmented reality are being leveraged to reinvent the retail space.<\/p>\n
Scott is an experienced global technology executive and entrepreneur. He has a track record of turning innovative ideas into successful businesses and building them to scale, either within a large enterprise or as a stand-alone company. He has built new companies and brought disruptive technologies to market. In addition, he has extensive experience expanding businesses internationally including Europe, China, and Asia.\u00a0 Scott\u2019s past successes include building the e-commerce business at Dell in the early days of the internet revolution; building the world\u2019s #1 tablet PC company at Motion Computing as the tablet industry was forming and building the company that defined the collaborative robotics category at Rethink Robotics.<\/p>\n
Scott was selected as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2004.\u00a0 He was also the inaugural winner of the Computerworld Smithsonian Program\u2019s 21st Century Pioneer Award and was recognized in the Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institution.\u00a0 Scott has served on the board of the Robotic Industries Association as well as arts and education non-profit boards.\u00a0 He is an active advisor and mentor to start-up CEOs in various industries.\u00a0 Scott holds a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Quantitative Economics from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.<\/p>\n
