With several local restaurants participating, they rose to the challenge!

The 7th Annual Whitehall Area Restaurant Week will be coming to the municipalities of Whitehall Township and Catasauqua, North Catasauqua and Coplay Boroughs. Happening from April 11 through April 17, 2021, the week-long event is designed to shine a spotlight on the diverse and delicious restaurants the Whitehall Area while bringing in new customers to local favorites.

“The Lehigh Valley has embraced the Restaurant Week this year in full,” said Jessica O’Donnell, EVP of Affiliated Chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. “We have seen successful restaurant weeks in Bethlehem, Greater Northern Lehigh, East Penn, Northampton… the common theme is that our communities are excited to support local in these challenging times!”

Participating restaurants will offer “set-price” or “prix fixe” breakfast, lunch, dinner, and/or dessert selections with both takeout, dine-in, and curbside options. Kylie Adams, AVP of Affiliated Chambers, said, “More than ever, we wanted to adapt our Restaurant Week model to fit our businesses. Even with lightened restrictions in place, so many are still operating with reduced staff and continuing to overcome challenges that the last year has presented; we won’t see the number of businesses participating or the same shoulder-to-shoulder lines out the door we’ve seen in past years, but the desire is still there! We’re hoping to use this as the support they need to push through as we reopen normally in the months to come.”

Menus are designed to satisfy a spectrum of palates, budgets and lifestyles. In their 7th Annual event, Whitehall Area Chamber will be featuring menus from seven local restaurants. Dunderbak’s, for example, is offering a “Retro Menu,” featuring off-menu favorites from their 43 years in business. Sample their Lobster Bisque ($5.99), their 1977 favorite double decker, “The Red Baron” (corned beef, weinkraut, swiss cheese and 1000 island dressing on the bottom, with Turkey, Lettuce and tomato on top, $11.49), amongst others.

If you’re looking for something lighter, Blocker’s Coffeehouse (of 309 Front Street, Catasauqua), will be featuring a free 12 ounce drip coffee with a slice of quiche.
