{"id":106701,"date":"2021-05-18T23:59:37","date_gmt":"2021-05-19T03:59:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=106701"},"modified":"2021-05-18T23:59:37","modified_gmt":"2021-05-19T03:59:37","slug":"meals-on-wheels-of-the-greater-lehigh-valley-launches-capital-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=106701","title":{"rendered":"Meals on Wheels of the Greater Lehigh Valley Launches Capital Campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>$3.6M Capital Campaign for New Building<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bethlehem, PA, May 18, 2021<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Meals on Wheels of the Greater Lehigh Valley (MOWGLV) announced today the $3.6M \u201cRecipe for the Future\u201d Capital Campaign for a new centralized headquarters at 1302 Sherman Street in Allentown.\u00a0The new building will provide additional space for meal preparation and nonperishable food storage along with a centralized volunteer pick-up site and the Fleming Community Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Meals on Wheels CEO, Vicki Coyle, explained the importance of the Fleming Community Caf\u00e9 to the project:<\/p>\n<p>Meals on Wheels has a 50-year history of going \u201cout\u201d to the community. Each day, we take food \u201cout\u201d to clients, whether it\u2019s a senior center, daycare, or individual clients. We are very one-dimensional when it comes to our ability to get the word out about our services. The Fleming Foundation Community Caf\u00e9 will be\u00a0a way for us to bring people \u201cin\u201d to our facility. Bob &#8212; a long-time volunteer for MOWGLV &#8212; has been active for many years with Moravian College as a Trustee and in other roles at the college. His family owned the longstanding local Bethlehem grocery store, Schoenen\u2019s Markets.
