That\u2019s why we\u2019re so proud to support summer learning efforts that not only meet our kids\u2019 academic needs, but also give them opportunities to have fun and build positive relationships,\u201d said Akshara Vivekananthan, Assistant Director, Education, UWGLV.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith a specific focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, we hoped to make this a simple grant process that would allow us to expand our summer learning partnerships across the region,\u201d added Vivekananthan.<\/p>\n<p>Made possible with financial support from Crayola, the 2021 Community-Based Summer Learning Microgrant Program is designed to support the summer learning efforts serving Lehigh, Northampton and Carbon counties. Grants ranging from $1,000 to $3,600 have been awarded to the following partner programs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bradbury Sullivan LGBT Community Center Providing Recreational Summer Learning to Trans Youth<\/li>\n<li>Community Bike Works Junior Earn a Bike<\/li>\n<li>Easton Area Community Center Summer Camp<\/li>\n<li>The Greater Valley YMCA Day Camp Enrichment Program<\/li>\n<li>Lehigh Valley Summerbridge<\/li>\n<li>National Museum of Industrial History Summer Learning with<\/li>\n<li>Lehigh Valley Children\u2019s Centers<\/li>\n<li>Northeast Community Center Summer Camp<\/li>\n<li>Northampton Community College Horizons for Youth Summer Camp<\/li>\n<li>Lehigh Valley Girls Rock Camp<\/li>\n<li>ProJeCt of Easton SIZZLE!\u00ae<\/li>\n<li>Slater Family Network Northampton County Family Center<\/li>\n<li>Unidos Foundation CyberLearning Club<\/li>\n<li>Valley Youth House Brave Space Summer Learning Experiences for LGBTQ+ Tweens &amp;Teens at Camp Fowler<\/li>\n<li>Via of the Lehigh Valley Teen Summer Experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThis grant will support our free CyberLearning Club summer program focused on culturally appropriate academic development, enrichment through the arts, and social emotional learning with character development and early intervention support for inner-city children of the Allentown School District,\u201d added Yamelisa Taveras, founder of grant recipient Unidos Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about summer learning opportunities in the Greater Lehigh Valley, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/lehighvalleyreads.org\/summer-learning\">www.lehighvalleyreads.org<\/a> where a full list will be available starting June 1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley<\/strong><br \/>\nUnited Way fights for the health, safety and education of every person in the Greater Lehigh Valley and envisions communities where every person belongs and every person thrives.
