The Director of Corrections reports that currently there are no cases of COVID-19 among the staff or inmates at the Northampton County Prison (NCP). Since the start of the pandemic, 184 inmates have tested positive for COVID-19. All have finished their quarantine periods or are no longer at NCP. Sixty-four Corrections Officers have tested positive for the virus since the start of the pandemic. All have finished their quarantine periods and returned to work.<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very pleased that the cases of COVID-19 at NCP are back to zero,\u201d says Lamont McClure. \u201cWith our successful mitigation methods and vaccination clinics we anticipate reopening some programs at the facility next month.\u201d<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Since March 2020, NCP has conducted 3,229 tests for COVID-19 on inmates. All new inmates coming into the facility receive a test before they are transferred to General Population; residents are tested on a random basis.<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

There are currently 520 inmates in residence at NCP. Twenty-seven non-violent offenders have been granted extended furloughs.<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

NCP will hold its second vaccination clinic on Wednesday, June 9th<\/sup>. PrimeCare Medical will administer the shots to inmates and staff. The vaccinations are not compulsory and are only provided to those who request them.<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Services, including Linking Employment Activities Pre-release or the LEAP program, the Pine Brook Family Answers program and the Mid-Atlantic Rehabilitation services program will reopen on July 6th<\/sup>.<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Department of Corrections plans to begin reopening the work release program on July 7th<\/sup>. Only inmates who are fully vaccinated will be considered for participation in that program.<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Extended furloughs were issued to non-violent offenders in 2020 during the pandemic. Furloughed inmates are scheduled to return to NCP on July 19, 20 and 21.<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

A COVID-19 drive-through vaccination clinic and testing site is open at 3100 Emrick Blvd. Bethlehem Township, 18020. Hours of operation are Monday\/Wednesday\/Friday from 10:00AM \u2013 2:00PM and Tuesday\/Thursday from 3:00PM to 6:00PM. The site is closed on Saturdays. The drive-through testing center is located in the parking area to the rear of the Coordinated Health Building and is separate from patient parking and routine patient care.<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

A Physician\u2019s order is not required to be tested. The drive-through site is open to everyone,\u00a0but only residents of Northampton County will receive a free test if they do not have health coverage.\u00a0All testing will be through HNL Lab Medicine unless insurance requires an alternate laboratory. Participants should bring a photo ID and their insurance card, if they have one, with them to the testing site.<\/div>\n
