{"id":106919,"date":"2021-06-03T21:34:09","date_gmt":"2021-06-04T01:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=106919"},"modified":"2021-06-03T21:34:09","modified_gmt":"2021-06-04T01:34:09","slug":"lvji-announces-launch-of-spanish-language-website","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=106919","title":{"rendered":"LVJI ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF SPANISH LANGUAGE WEBSITE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lehigh Valley, PA &#8211; The Lehigh Valley Justice Institute (&#8220;LVJI&#8221;) today announced that it has launched a Spanish language version of its website:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.LVJI.org\/\"><u>www.LVJI.org<\/u><\/a> at <u>es.LVJI.org.<\/u> LVJI views the launch as part of its mission to provide accurate information to all of the Lehigh Valley community regarding local criminal justice issues.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want all of our Lehigh Valley communities to have access to the information which we are developing.\u00a0 The launch of a Spanish language website is an important step toward the inclusion of all communities,&#8221; LVJI Executive Director Joseph Welsh explained.<\/p>\n<p>LVJI Board member Luis Perez, who has been very active in working with Lehigh County and municipal governments in the development of re-entry programs, as well as youth diversion programs, agreed. &#8220;All too\u00a0 often\u00a0 the Hispanic community falls victim to the &#8220;Justice System,&#8221; we walk naYvely thinking there \u00a0is \u00a0no \u00a0hope, \u00a0nor \u00a0help, \u00a0or \u00a0resources. \u00a0Much \u00a0of \u00a0this \u00a0is \u00a0in \u00a0part \u00a0due \u00a0to<\/p>\n<p>misrepresentation \u00a0and \u00a0the \u00a0lack \u00a0of \u00a0information \u00a0provided \u00a0to \u00a0us \u00a0in \u00a0our \u00a0native language. The LVJI Spainsh edition website brings a greater understanding of the Justice System by bridging that gap and allowing us the chance to understand and be included,&#8221; Perez said.<\/p>\n<p>The Lehigh Valley Justice Institute was formed last year to address criminal justice issues specifically in the Lehigh Valley, from an academic perspective. Mucho de esto se debe en parte a la tergiversaci6n y la falta de informaci6n que nos proporciona en nuestro nativo idioma.\u00a0\u00a0 El sitio web de la edici6n LVJI Espanola brinda una mayor comprensi6n del sistema de justicia al cerrar esa brecha y brindamos la oportunidad de comprender y ser\u00a0 incluidos.&#8221; Perez dijo.<\/p>\n<p>El Instituto de Justicia de Lehigh Valley se form6 el afio pasado para abordar problemas de justicia penal especificamente en el Lehigh Valley, desde una perspectiva academica.
