Lehigh Valley, PA – The Lehigh Valley Justice Institute (“LVJI”) today announced that it has launched a Spanish language version of its website:<\/p>\n
www.LVJI.org<\/u><\/a> at es.LVJI.org.<\/u> LVJI views the launch as part of its mission to provide accurate information to all of the Lehigh Valley community regarding local criminal justice issues.<\/p>\n “We want all of our Lehigh Valley communities to have access to the information which we are developing.\u00a0 The launch of a Spanish language website is an important step toward the inclusion of all communities,” LVJI Executive Director Joseph Welsh explained.<\/p>\n LVJI Board member Luis Perez, who has been very active in working with Lehigh County and municipal governments in the development of re-entry programs, as well as youth diversion programs, agreed. “All too\u00a0 often\u00a0 the Hispanic community falls victim to the “Justice System,” we walk naYvely thinking there \u00a0is \u00a0no \u00a0hope, \u00a0nor \u00a0help, \u00a0or \u00a0resources. \u00a0Much \u00a0of \u00a0this \u00a0is \u00a0in \u00a0part \u00a0due \u00a0to<\/p>\n misrepresentation \u00a0and \u00a0the \u00a0lack \u00a0of \u00a0information \u00a0provided \u00a0to \u00a0us \u00a0in \u00a0our \u00a0native language. The LVJI Spainsh edition website brings a greater understanding of the Justice System by bridging that gap and allowing us the chance to understand and be included,” Perez said.<\/p>\n The Lehigh Valley Justice Institute was formed last year to address criminal justice issues specifically in the Lehigh Valley, from an academic perspective.
